About Us

Fourth Generation of Stonemasons

Our Story

Wayne Hallett is the youngest son of nine children of Felix Hallett.  His great grandfather, stonemason William Frank Hallett began his journey in the late 1800’s and the craft was passed on to the subsequent generations.  Wayne Hallett is a 4th Generation Master Stonemason.

The Hallett family has always made it a priority to produce the finest quality of workmanship in all types of stone and this is evident in the cemeteries, churches, commercial buildings and homes throughout Melbourne, regional Victoria, interstate and overseas.

The Generational Family business was founded in the late 1800’s by Adelaide stonemason William Francis Hallett (Frank) in a little confine in Flinders Lane, right behind the old Herald office. He stayed there until 1910 when the firm relocated to Bridge Rd Richmond, staying until 1989 when it moved all of its operations to Mahoneys Rd Thomastown. In early 2014, Wayne re-branded his share of F. Hallett & Son and with it began a new venture by its former director and fourth generation stonemason, Wayne Hallett, the founder of the newest and most exciting company to enter the market, Hallettstone Memorials.

Our Staff

Wayne Hallett

Wayne was taught the craft from the age of sixteen by his late father, master stonemason Felix Hallett. Felix was a leader and innovator in his field and was influential in his teachings and this knowledge was passed onto his sons with incredible results.  Wayne would restore antique fireplaces in his early years, eventually excelling at trade school by winning many awards and transferred that knowledge to showcase his expertise in designing, cutting, building, installing, shaping, sandblasting and gilding.

Wayne was a Director of the Generational Family Business from 1989 until early 2014.  He has great communication skills, approachable and an embedded understanding of a client’s needs.  He is very much hands on by involving himself in the office with day to day operations of the factory and working in the cemetery.

Wayne is a big kid at heart who loves to spend time with his wife, three daughters and his family and friends. He loves his motor sports, water sports, he plays basketball and lives life to the fullest.
